The rules were made by the Administrators and/or former Staff; to which the reasons of why a chalkboard is to be used, I'm unable to provide a response for.

However, we'll need constructive feedback as to why the current system should be changed. This is a system that has been there since the server began, changing it within a whim would make no sense. Our concerns towards changes are to request for clarification as to why it's a better option, and the community has yet to provide that clarification.

Changing it within a whim? Maybe that's if this is the first time this is brought up, but as others mentioned I believe the first time this was suggested was way back in 2017, or in 2016?

You're asking for clarifications as to why it's a better option, yet you chose to ignore my points and examples made in the previous post which basically explained how the chalkboard system is clearly inferior to the @map command if it's to be implemented (with the inactive rule of course).
What kind of actual constructive feedback are you expecting us to provide?

EDIT: Wait, how about the countless kill-stealing reports that ended up with "lack of evidence"?

Added a poll.
  1. First option for if you think that you just want the @map command as soon as possible and remove the chalkboard system altogether.
  2. Second option for if you think that you want the @map command but to somehow implement the chalkboard system in it (thereby, the command will take a much longer time to implement to have it function properly).
  3. Third option for if you think that the @map command isn't needed and you're fine with the chalkboard system for afk as well as @check screenshot system for proving map ownership as well as reporting kill-stealers.
  4. Forth option for if you have a different opinion than what listed, then please reply in the thread your opinions.

Unless I'm misunderstanding the definition of "Accepted", or the point of the "Accepted" subforum for the Suggestions section, I believe the current system should be changed because it was already "accepted" by the Staff. If you feel I misunderstand the purpose of the "Accepted" subforum, please feel free to enlighten me as to it's actual purpose.

Quick edit: As defined by the section itself, the "Approved" (wrongly labeled 'Accepted' above) subforum, as defined currently at the time of writing this comment, is "Suggestions that we have implemented or will be implemented soon have been moved here." To my knowledge, the @map command was "Accepted" for quite some time before the forums were wiped.

Wasn't this because chalkboards were the only way to "prove" that you had the 10 minute ownership of a map?

I don't see why a chalkboard is required in addition to @map when @map can do exactly the same thing (keeping you first in line if you are within that "10 minutes of ownership"), and in addition prevents people from cheating by putting incorrect timings like what Butt has pointed out.

If you're first when @map is used then it means you have ownership of the map and that's it.

I don't get the passive aggressiveness of the responses, perhaps it's because it was already accepted?

In that case, please refer to what I said about the 10-minute system. It seems like this wasn't clear enough, but the current map ownership system (used by the Staff) does not take into account any 10-minute grace nor the chalkboard.

The reason a command should be added over this chalkboard / 10 minute grace period bullshit is obvious, it's alot more simple and easier for EVERYONE including the staff to enforce & use.

A simple command that tracks whether or not you attacked a mob within the past 5-10 minutes is a lot easier than someone having to screenshot their screen with @check used 300 times, it simply doesn't make sense for such an old school method to still be around. Simply, a command that shows ownership of a map will start actually forcing members of the server to realize that there are consequences for map stealing and that it's not a "roll of the dice" to see whether or not the original map owner had screenshots.

This will allow members to realize that they cannot just do as they please and at the same time will allow the staff members to have a clear cut way of banning or punishing said members without having to check time stamps, and reject certain appeals due to the "lack of evidence" a simple screenshot showing that the map owner is OP and OP saying "gtfo my map" is easier, more clear cut, and easier to process for again both the staff members and the players of the server.

I honestly don't think it's hard to understand or see why the @map command is simply the better choice nor do I see why the staff members seem to need an actual reason to add such a command when the usage of said command has been explained multiple times.

-shrug-

TL;DR - @MAP COMMAND TRACKS TO SEE WHO THE LAST PERSON TO ATTACK IN THE MAP WAS WITHIN THE LAST 5-10 MINUTES -> FIRST PERSON ON THE LIST IS THE OWNER OF THE MAP -> ONCE ANOTHER PERSON BECOMES THE FIRST PERSON THE LIST, THE MAP IS NOW THEIRS (AFTER THE ORIGINAL OWNER HAS BEEN AFK FOR 5-10 MINUTES).

NO CHALKBOARD, NO RETARDED @CHECK COMMAND. A SIMPLE COMMAND THAT SAYS "AYO CUH THAT MAP IS YOURS or AYO CUH THAT MAP AINT YOURS or AYO CUH YOU LOST THAT SHIT BLUH"

Easy enough right?

  1. We're talking about the map ownership system for the usage of players, for the purpose of proving map ownership, resolving disputes and reporting kill-stealers. Staffs may have their own different map ownership system and commands but that got nothing to do with us players.
  2. Both the "10-minute" grace for being inactive and the chalkboard system are in the map ownership rules under the ToS. If the staffs are operating under a different map ownership system without them, then may I ask why enforce it to the players in ToS to follow such rules instead of offering a similar map ownership system?

It's not about whether or not one is better than the other.

It's about whether an additional system should be added to compensate for the 10-minute grace as there is currently none in place that applies with the ownership command (that is only available to Staff at the current time).

In case it wasn't obvious enough, the command that's available to Staff will be made available to players when it's ready. And as mentioned, at the current time it does not compensate for the 10-minute grace. Rules still apply regardless.

If you're unable to understand the above statement, then there's no point in responding further.

Which is exactly the reason the "inactive rule" is being suggested as it is implicit for the full functionality of the @map command.

It's okay I'll stop replying to this thread until there are some constructive discussion going on again since I don't feel like you could understand what us the players are telling you either, just like I couldn't understand your own contradictions.

I think the command switching ownership after X amount of time should be the new "system".

Once the ownership has been replaced, the original owner loses ownership of the map and the person who is now first owns the map and will continue to own the map until he/she leaves or until he/she goes afk for a set amount of time.

Perhaps its just me, but it doesn't need to be this complicated at all.
