A command to show which player has the ownership of the map.

What it shows
- The map ID, channel and the timestamp as of where and when the command is executed.
- The ownership of the map, in the form of the list of players sorted in the order of them being in the map, from the first to the last.
- If a player has been inactive (not doing any damage to monsters in the map) for more than 10 minutes, his name will be moved to the last of the list.

SpecterState : @map
Character(s) on this map (map ID 1234567890, channel 10, 2018-08-02 02:13 GMT+8) :
SpecterState, kanna4life, iLikeToKS, banMeIfUCan

Reason why this command is needed in my opinions
- The current system where you need to take a screenshot of you being in the map alone with nobody else along with the timestamp from @check is very ineffective for players to report a kill-stealer.
- Kill-stealers are easy to get away because most players did not take a @check screenshot for every map they go, be it for the purpose of training, farming, doing daily quests, etc, as they did not expect the kill-stealers to come into and raid their maps.
- With this command being implemented there will be less kill-stealings because kill-stealers will know that they can be reported easily with a screenshot of @map showing the ownership of the map.

Yes, but the suggestion has been wiped along with the recent forums upgrade. Therefore I'm making this suggestion again on the new forums so that it's not completely forgotten along with the wipe, as well as bringing it to attention since as far as I could remember this accepted yet pending for implementation suggestion has been there in the old forums for quite a long time?
I do understand that "good suggestions tend to require a great amount of time and effort put into it", but what I don't understand is that is this command really that difficult to be coded that it actually require such an infinitely long amount of time to be implemented?

We'll let the community decide.

Implementing the command is pretty simple, however, the involvement of the chalkboard system within map ownership for AriesMS complicates things and the commands.

If we were to retain the chalkboard system, the command will take a much longer time to implement to have it function properly.

If it was removed, there are a few minor adjustments to make before it can be released.

I feel like myself and many others would be fine with the chalkboard rule being put to the side if it meant the @map command would be available at least for the time being until the command can actually function with the chalkboard system. I agree that there are benefits to having the 10min rule with chalkboards but in my opinion i'd much rather have the @map command and no chalkboard than the current system we have right now.

Correct me if I'm wrong but I don't see a need to retain the chalkboard system if the third point in my suggestion is to be implemented within the @map command functionality.
- If a player has been inactive (not doing any damage to monsters in the map) for more than 10 minutes, his name will be moved to the last of the list.

The current chalkboard system is to allow a player to be afk for less than 10 minutes while retaining the map ownership.
If the above "inactive rule" is to be implemented, the player can be afk for less than 10 minutes and the @map command will still show that he has the map ownership. If he is however, afk for more than 10 minutes then he will lose the map ownership. This is basically the same as using a chalkboard, except that it is automated with how the @map command determining the map ownership.

That's suggesting to implement the 10-minute allowance system within the general command without the usage of a chalkboard.

I"m not sure if that's a good idea.

Would it simply be better to have an average time then, lets say 3-5 minutes instead (if a longer time with the chalkboard rule needs to be in place that can be dealt with at a later time to have a longer map holding time).

Then again, I refer back to my statement. Does the community want to retain the 10-minute system?

Because the issue isn't with the amount of time, but with the additional system in place for map ownership.

Honestly cant understand why a chalkboard rule was made instead of a command to begin with. With the amount of new players who don't know the rule they start getting ksed or ksing other people and when they're told of the chalkboard rule they continue to ks or continue to get ksed. If the ingame command was there they could just spam at eachother to check @map and within a few days 99% of the players would know of the command. It's such a simple thing that every other server I've played has had which drastically reduces the amount of ksing and stops players from spamming for gms to come and ban ksers.

Also, can easily abuse the chalkboard command by just saying afk @:50 wen really you left at :45 and just pray nobody appears in the next 5 min but thats just my opinion

The main purpose of the "inactive rule" is to remove one's map ownership if he/she is afk for more than a certain duration.
The duration of 10 minutes in my suggestion is simply based on the current ToS rule which one can retain his map ownership while being afk with a chalkboard for a maximum of 10 minutes. If the staffs and the community deemed it too long it can be changed to shorter duration as it see fit, such as 5 minutes or so.

If the @map command were to implemented without such "inactive rule", there will be players purposely abusing this command to hog a map and not utilize it because his map ownership won't be removed even when he's being inactive and not utilizing the map.

Now regarding whether "implement the 10-minute allowance system within the general command without the usage of a chalkboard" is a good idea or not, in my opinions it is.
Why? Because right now a player is already allowed to be afk for 10 minutes with the current chalkboard system, and removing the need of using a chalkboard is simply an improvement to the map ownership system.

Is the usage of chalkboard in this matter (going afk while retaining map ownership) actually that important?
To be honest I find that having to set up a chalkboard and all that before the player can go afk is actually so stupidly inconvenience, especially if the player is in an emergency.

Let's compare them.
If player A has to be afk for a short duration, he has to do a @check command to check the system time, and set up a chalkboard stating the time. What if he is in an emergency and need to leave his computer real quick?
Not to mention that he also has to already have a chalkboard in his inventory at that moment. If he doesn't have it then he has to enter the Cash Shop to get one, and by entering the Cash Shop he could have lost his map ownership if someone came into the map at that time, or is already in the map.

Now if player B came into the map and find that player A is there being afk with a chalkboard stating a time, he has to do a @check command to compare the time on the chalkboard and the current system time to know if player A has been afk for more than the specific duration (and therefore lost the map ownership) or not.

The players also need to take several screenshots at different timing, just in case of a dispute over the map ownership.
What I observed is that several reports of such disputes recently actually resolved with neither side at right or wrong because of the lack of evidence.
If player A has to be afk for a short duration, he simply does that immediately.

Now if player B came into the map and find that player A is there being afk, he just need to do a @map command to know if player A has been afk for more than the specific duration (and therefore lost the map ownership) or not.

If there is a dispute, only a screenshot of the @map command is needed to show that who has the map ownership with no need for precautionary measures (taking screenshots in a form of insurance).

Now, I doubt if any player actually will want the chalkboard system over the @map command.
I can only see that with the "inactive rule" the @map command is much better than the current chalkboard system, for both player A and player B.

Well, these are my personal opinions regarding the current chalkboard system and my purposed @map command with the "inactive rule".

I'm in favor of abolishing the usage of chalkboards and screenshots (as needed in the old system) and switching it to a "@map" command. That being said, it would be preferable for the command to include the "inactive rule" mentioned by Yeng (that's implicit imo) .

So you're saying to allow a 10-minute away time regardless of the usage of a chalkboard?

Other than that, the post makes no sense.

Well, if you choose to ignore the points made, then yes, usage of a chalkboard is just stupid if compared to the @map command.

10 minute or however long the time allowed though, it is up to the staffs' decision. I am merely taking the example from the current rules.

Since nobody seems to understand why we have a chalkboard rule or why its so much more important to have a chalkboard than an ingame command, explain to us why staff would rather have a chalkboard and not a command that tells the player if somebody was actively hitting in the map in the past x amount of minutes, and if it passes x minutes of them not hitting anything they would lose the map.

The rules were made by the Administrators and/or former Staff; to which the reasons of why a chalkboard is to be used, I'm unable to provide a response for.

However, we'll need constructive feedback as to why the current system should be changed. This is a system that has been there since the server began, changing it within a whim would make no sense. Our concerns towards changes are to request for clarification as to why it's a better option, and the community has yet to provide that clarification.

Unless I'm misunderstanding the definition of "Accepted", or the point of the "Accepted" subforum for the Suggestions section, I believe the current system should be changed because it was already "accepted" by the Staff. If you feel I misunderstand the purpose of the "Accepted" subforum, please feel free to enlighten me as to it's actual purpose.

Quick edit: As defined by the section itself, the "Approved" (wrongly labeled 'Accepted' above) subforum, as defined currently at the time of writing this comment, is "Suggestions that we have implemented or will be implemented soon have been moved here." To my knowledge, the @map command was "Accepted" for quite some time before the forums were wiped.

constructive feedback

Wasn't this because chalkboards were the only way to "prove" that you had the 10 minute ownership of a map?

I don't see why a chalkboard is required in addition to @map when @map can do exactly the same thing (keeping you first in line if you are within that "10 minutes of ownership"), and in addition prevents people from cheating by putting incorrect timings like what Butt has pointed out.

If you're first when @map is used then it means you have ownership of the map and that's it.
