In-Game Name: Leloch
Job of Character: Pathfinder
Ban Reason: I have been banned in accordance with the scamming rule (2.4) of the terms of service. I smega'd an item with an a/w, accepted the bid, but ultimately retracted the agreement on selling. This is a violation of the ToS.
Reason of Appeal: But I believe extra context is important. So please consider the following facts:
1. In my inventory, I had multiple of the same item in question with varying amounts of value.
2. I misclicked on an identical item that I had no intention of selling. The pendant that was smega'd was of substantially higher value.
3. It would be completely illogical for me to sell a 30/27dex pendant for the price I advertised (1.5k dp). I would have shortchanged myself by tens of billions of mesos. I would effectively be scamming myself.
The scamming rule exists to protect the community from players with malicious intent. With the considerations I just stated, I hope you can come to the same conclusion as I have - this was simply an honest mistake. I did not intend to hurt or disenfranchise anyone from my actions.
When taken at face value, I have breached an agreement that was made before signing up in this server. But at the same time, my intent does not line up with the behavior that scamming is trying to stop. I feel that I am a victim of technicalities.
Scaming is handled case-by-case (as per the ToS), so I hope you take my appeal's arguments with serious consideration and do not see the rules in Scamming (2.4) to be a cut-and-dry decision. With all this in mind, I firmly request a reconsideration of the punishment I have received with one of the following:
- I be unbanned
- I do not receive a strike for this incident
Thank you very much for your time. From now on, I will always be more careful as to how I handle auctions and in-game transactions
